As a child Jessa Carter's list of future occupations were as follows (in chronological order) gypsie, geologist, potion maker, surgeon, and set designer. Although her educational and practical background is in design and brand development, her desire to integrate those initial interests is ever present in her visual fluency. She has previously applied her experience to the fashion world; working as a trend forecaster and creative strategist for Nordstrom's young customer segments, as well as art direction, strategy, photography and brand development for independent clients on the West Coast. After relocating from San Francisco in 2010 Jessa became enmeshed in Seattle's cultural landscape as a founding member of LOVECITYLOVE where she took on a curatorial role, developing programming and producing exhibitions featuring her own work and the work of a wide variety of creatives. She is currently exploring motion, sound and site-specific works as a medium and a method. Jessa's work is a practice in externalizing an internal conversation about transitory and impermanent phenomena.
Jessa was born and raised in Northern California and hopes to reside outside of the US in the near future.
